About
Hi, I'm Jasper.
In January 2025, I published my first novel, Dawntasy: Time's True Name. I was thirteen.
A month later, I composed its soundtrack and released it worldwide. By July, I'd fallen down the rabbit hole of artificial intelligence and didn't come back up. Since then, I have learned graduate machine learning and artificial intelligence material as an incoming Master's student (Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence) at the University of Colorado Boulder, participated in AI hackathons and ranked in the top 5 nationally for AI Olympiads. Finally, this year, I submitted a research paper unifying state-space dynamics, regularization and attention to a top-tier AI conference.
Somewhere in the middle of all that, I started Year 9.
Everything I build lives under one roof: Dawntasy. My motto is simple
Wonder. Ask. Answer. Repeat.
My work sits at the intersection of theoretical and practical machine learning, with interests in continual learning, AI alignment/control/interpretability, deep learning and modern sequence modelling. I am motivated in applying AI to solve real-world problems and ideating future research directions for safe, interpretable and powerful AI. Currently, I am expanding my technical network and preparing for my upcoming graduate coursework at CU Boulder. I welcome connections from fellow researchers, engineers, and collaborators in the AI/ML space.
I'm just getting started.
"11:59. Peace and quiet.
12:00. Eerie silence."
The clocks have no hands. The tyrant has no face. And the bear who swore revenge may be the true villain of this story.
A bear watches his parents die. He makes a promise. He spends twenty years sharpening it into a weapon.
His name is Yaee. The tyrant who took everything from him is called Time Smith—a dictator so powerful he can silence cities, so feared that no one alive has ever seen his face. Yaee joins a rebellion. He finds allies. He loses his mentor. He fights his way to the heart of the regime.
And then he burns an entire city to the ground with its people still inside.
This is not the story you think it is.
Because when Yaee finally stands before Time Smith, weapon raised, ready to collect on twenty years of rage—the tyrant doesn't fight back. He sits down. And he tells Yaee the truth.
A truth so dangerous that only three people in the world are allowed to know it. A truth that turns every clock backward, every ally into a question mark, and every certainty to ash.
The clocks in this world have no hands.
Now you know why.

"When I was reading it I couldn't believe it was from a teenager. The writing was truly phenomenal and I felt as if I could have imagined myself in another world. It clearly broke through the line between imagination and reality. I would definitely recommend this book to other people!"
"This book is amazing! I loved the wording, and I feel it really connects with the serious things about the world Yay and all the other characters are living in. The author put so much work into the grammar and storyline. I really love how there are so many different categories of different characters."
"It started odd, but once I got past the first few paragraphs… wow, just wow! And the end, and the middle, all of it! I loved the beautiful journey we take with Yay, and it's one I'd recommend any and all to take!"
"An incredible YA fantasy that blurs the line between truth and illusion. The writing is vivid, the plot twists are unpredictable, and the themes are surprisingly deep. Hard to believe it's from a 13-year-old author! Highly recommend for fantasy lovers."

Jasper works as an AI research intern, using deep learning to improve machine learning models for Parkinson's disease metabolomics (specifically CRANK-MS for metabolite identification). He is also authoring a deep learning research paper called FunCAN (Functional Complexity Adaptive Networks) targeting submission to NeurIPS, one of the world's most prestigious AI conferences.
Dawntasy is the umbrella for all of Jasper Jiang's creative and research work — spanning fiction, music composition, and artificial intelligence research. It represents the belief that one person, moving fast enough, can build something the world hasn't seen yet.
Yes. Jasper won 3rd Place at the UNSW 2025 Societal Impact of AI Symposium and the Most Innovative Award at the ACU Air Aware Hackathon — competing against university students as a Year 9 high school student.
